چکیده

The recycling or re-use of failed c-Si PV modules could be a significant concern in the near future. The existing approaches for cell recovery can be improved both environmentally and economically friendly. Here we propose a novel double encapsulation module with an optical coupler (DEMOC) module design for convenient c-Si cell recovery. In this paper, the concept of DEMOC is illustrated. We successfully determine the materials and lamination recipes for single-cell re-usable mini-modules. The optical reflection and IV performance of DEMOC are measured and prove to surpass those of an earlier-proposed design without optical coupler. The cell recovery procedure of the DEMOC design is discussed at last.

An Investigation of Temperature Effects on Solar Photovoltaic Cells and Modules

The solar photovoltaic (PV) systems are facing serious problems due to unavoidable losses in their system, leads to more devation of output power from the input power level. This effect is known as a mismatch effect and is available in PV systems. Many losses are encountered in PV system and it is difficult to minimize such losses. In this paper, the influence of thermal effect on the solar PV ...

Potential-induced degradation in photovoltaic modules: a critical review

Potential-induced degradation (PID) has received considerable attention in recent years due to its detrimental impact on photovoltaic (PV) module performance under field conditions. Both crystalline silicon (c-Si) and thin-film PV modules are susceptible to PID. While extensive studies have already been conducted in this area, the understanding of the PID phenomena is still incomplete and it re...

Characteristics of Different Solar PV Modules under Partial Shading

Partial shadowing is one of the problems that are always faced in terrestrial applications of solar photovoltaic (PV). The effects of partial shadow on the energy yield of conventional mono-crystalline and multi-crystalline PV modules have been researched for a long time. With deployment of new thin-film solar PV modules in the market, it is important to understand the performance of new PV mod...

The Temperature Dependence Coefficients of Amorphous Silicon and Crystalline Photovoltaic Modules Using Malaysian Field Test Investigation

The temperature dependence coefficients of amorphous silicon and crystalline photovoltaic (PV) modules using Malaysian field data have been obtained using linear regression technique. This is achieved by studying three test stand-alone PV-battery systems using 62 Wp a-Si, 225 Wp multicrystalline and 225 Wp mono-crystalline PV modules. These systems were designed to provide electricity for rural...

Understanding Potential Induced Degradation

Potential Induced Degradation (PID) is an undesirable property of some solar modules. The factors that enable PID (voltage, heat and humidity) exist on all photovoltaic (PV) systems, but the effect does not occur on all or even most PV systems. According to Dr. Peter Hacke of the National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL), “All c-Si [crystalline silicon] modules have elements of reversible and...
